They also utilize something called Return of Capital or ROC.

Isn't Return of Capital usually a giant red flag?

Usually, yes.
If a fund is losing money and giving you ROC,
they are just handing your own deposit back to you.
But in a fund that is generating massive total returns
like IQQQ, which has a 30% one-year total return,
ROC operates differently.
How so?
Imagine buying a rental property.
The property value is going up and it's generating cash.
But due to accounting depreciation,
you don't owe taxes on that cash today.
Instead, it lowers your official cost
basis in the property.

Yeah, they aren't using synthetic swaps.
They hold actual shares of NVIDIA and ASML.
And they sell call options against those shares
to generate the 45% yield.
But usually selling calls caps your upside, doesn't it?
It does.
But the underlying tech stocks are appreciating so rapidly
that the capital growth is outpacing the massive cash
they are distributing.
It is a highly concentrated momentum play,
but the mechanics are structurally sound,
as long as the semi-conductor supercycle continues.
So that's an anomaly based on sector momentum.
Let's look at a structural play.
The source is highlight a business development company
or BDC called Trinity Capital, ticker TNM.
Yeah, this one is a standout.
It yields 13%.
